How I Work with The Lactation Network for Your Support
As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I work as an independent contractor with The Lactation Network. This means that while I provide personalized lactation support to help families with breastfeeding, The Lactation Network is a third party that handles billing for the services I provide. Through The Lactation Network, eligible clients can access up to six lactation consultations at no out-of-pocket cost. They will verify your insurance coverage and manage the billing process directly with your insurance company. It's important to understand that you will enter into an agreement with The Lactation Network for their services. My role is to provide you with expert support while they take care of the billing and insurance verification. This partnership is designed to make lactation services more accessible for you and your family.
Eligible Insurances
The Lactation Network accepts several insurance plans to help families access lactation support. The accepted insurances include:
- Most Blue Cross PPO
- Blue Shield PPO
- Anthem PPO
- Cigna PPO
- United Healthcare PPO (HMO & Commercial plans)
- VA CCN (Veterans Affairs Community Care Network)
- Most plans utilizing MultiPlan
- Most plans utilizing PNOA (Provider Network of America)
How It Works
- Verification of Coverage: The Lactation Network will check your insurance coverage to confirm your eligibility for lactation visits.
- Direct Billing: Once you receive services, The Lactation Network will bill your insurance directly on your behalf. You will need to sign an Assignment of Benefits (AOB) agreement, which allows them to manage your insurance claims. Be sure to read the AOB carefully.
- Explanation of Benefits (EOB): After your visit, you may receive an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance provider. This document outlines what your insurance paid or did not pay to The Lactation Network. Please note that this is not a bill.
- Additional Visits: If you require more than six visits, I will seek additional approval from The Lactation Network before your appointment. They will inform me of the approval status

I am an independent contractor, separate from The Lactation Network. Their fees and billing practices do not reflect my own. The Lactation Network serves as a bridge between you and me, making it easier for you to access the lactation care you need. I am committed to providing you with unbiased, high-quality education and support. By clicking through to The Lactation Network to check your eligibility, you agree that you understand the above.
Self-Pay Option
If you prefer not to use The Lactation Network and agree to an Assignment of Benefits, you can choose to self-pay for your visits. In this case, I will provide you with a superbill that you can submit directly to your insurance for potential reimbursement for any out-of-network benefits.
